You're reading: European Parliament completes ratification of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement

Brussels - The European Parliament completed the ratification of the European Union - Ukraine Association Agreement in Strasbourg on Tuesday, Sep. 16 by confirming that part of the agreement which deals with citizens of third countries legally employed in the territory of either side.

Prior to that, it approved the main part of the agreement.

The ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement was thus brought to an end.

Deputies of the European Parliament in Strasbourg watched a live broadcast of voting in the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv. European Parliament President Martin Schulz gave the floor to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, whose speech was broadcast in Strasbourg.

Shortly after the vote Schulz signed a letter to the Council of the European Union saying that the ratification procedure had been completed and the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement simultaneously took effect.
