The 52 percent turnout at parliamentary elections in Ukraine is "a very good result from the point of view of many European countries," the head of the European Parliament team that monitored the polls, Andrej Plenkovic, told a news conference in Kyiv on Oct. 27.

The European Parliament’s 26 observers belong to a 950-member international monitoring team that represents 43 countries and includes 750 long- and short-term observers from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), 91 from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, 41 from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), and 17 from the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO.
