The European Party of Ukraine has condemned the removal of female MPs from the Kharkiv hospital where former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko is undergoing treatment and sent relevant letters to foreign embassies in Ukraine and the PACE.

The European Party of Ukraine strongly condemns the incident and urges the country’s law enforcement agencies to investigate it immediately. The protesters, who are citizens of Ukraine and current members of parliament, didn’t violate any laws when staying in Ukrzaliznytsia’s Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv, and acted within the Constitution and laws of Ukraine,” the party’s press service said.

The party sent a letter about the incident to all foreign embassies in Ukraine and to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

As reported, Ukrainian lawmakers Oleksanrda Kuzhel, Tetiana Sliuz, and Liudmyla Denisova, members of the Batkivschyna United Opposition, who came to visit Tymoshenko in hospital and then refused to leave, said they were forcibly removed from the hospital on Friday morning.

The Ukrainian State Penitentiary Service reported that the women had left the hospital under a court ruling.

In the meantime, a source in the parliament said the women were forcibly removed from the ward by 15 Berkut special task force officers.
