Even if a long lasting peace is established in eastern Ukraine, there will still be a military threat to the country, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
In the case of the most optimistic scenario in Donbas, in the case of a long-lasting ceasefire which could bring forward a political settlement and stable peace, unfortunately, a military threat from the east will still exist and will require constant efforts and the strengthening of the defense capacity of the state,” Poroshenko said, during a graduation ceremony at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Cherniakhovsky National University on Feb. 27.
