You're reading: Ex MP Ivaniuschenko’s assets arrested in different countries reach almost $100 million

At present almost $100 million belonged to former lawmakers from the Party of Regions Yuriy Ivaniuschenko have been arrested, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vitaliy Yarema has said.

“Ivaniuschenko is suspected in committing crimes linked to abuse of office, as he was a lawmaker. His money was arrested not only in Switzerland, but in the Baltic states. The total sum is around $100 million,” Yarema said in an interview with the Novoye Vremia publication.

Yarema said that Ivaniuschenko was put on the EU sanction list.

“We hope that when he is detained or convicted in absentia the money will be returned to the budget,” he said.

Asked what sum of the assets withdrawn Prosecutor General’s Office plans to return to the state, the prosecutor general said that over $200 million are on the different accounts in the EU countries, UAH 6 billion and $1.8 billion are in Ukraine. A total of 11 land plots, six houses, including houses abroad, 50 kilograms of gold and items made of precious metals have been arrested.
