Objective reasons for the loss of life during tragic events in Odesa on May 2 cannot be obtained due to the lack of modern equipment from local experts, according to members of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada Committee investigating the deaths of citizens in Odesa, Mariupol and other cities in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

A draft resolution on the report of the parliament’s temporary investigative commission (No. 5041) was registered by a group of deputies in the Verkhovna Rada, according to the parliament’s Web site.

The commission’s report notes that as a result of a fire that broke out at the Trade Unions House in Odesa 48 bodies, including seven women and 41 men, were delivered to the morgue of the regional bureau of forensic medical examination. Forty-eight forensic examinations were conducted, and the following causes of death were established: nine people were poisoned by carbon monoxide, 13 – combustion products, 12 – as a result of burns of the respiratory tract and body burns, eight died when jumping out of the building, and six died from fatal gunshot wounds. One of the deceased (as a result of DNA) has not yet been identified.

As reported, 48 people were killed and more than 200 injured during mass riots in Odesa on May 2. Most of them died in the fire at the Trade Unions House.
