Experts: Ukraine's non-aligned status improved relations only with Russia

The declaration by Ukraine of its non-aligned state has not improved the situation in key foreign policy areas, except for relations with Russia, according to a survey of experts conducted by the Razumkov Center, the Mirror Weekly, Ukraine publication has reported.
Most experts said that this step had not strengthened the security of the country, had not improved its image, had not strengthened Ukraine's influence on ensuring security in Europe, and had not contributed to the development of relations with the EU and the United States.
According to experts, the situation was improved only in relations with Russia.
Experts split in their opinion on the domestic political stability.
The survey of experts was conducted by the Razumkov Center on Oct. 10-14, 2011.
The center interviewed 80 experts - people's deputies, representatives of central and regional government agencies, public and private research institutions in Kyiv and Ukrainian regions, and reporters.
