You're reading: Exports of goods from Ukraine to Russia to fall by $5 billion by late 2014

The volume of decline in exports of goods from Ukraine to Russia since early 2014 amounts to some $3.5 billion and it could expand to $5 billion by the end of the year, Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Shlapak has said.

“We’ve lost around $3.5 billion of exports to Russia, and by the end of the year we’ll lose around $5 billion. This first concerns agriculture – the food group 1-24 (foods) and engineering. These are the key positions we exported to Russia,” he said speaking at the investment conference entitled “A Fresh Look at Ukraine” organized by SP Advisors and held in Kyiv on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

He also said that it is likely that the rest of goods relations between the countries, including energy resources we consume and engineering products we supply to Russia – engines from Motor Sich, turbines from Turboatom and missile parts from Pivdenmash design bureau will still exist.
