FIFA and UEFA have responded to reports from the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU), saying the latest developments are seen positively and that this is an important step forward to strengthening football in Ukraine, according to statements posted on the Web sites of UEFA and FIFA.

"Following the information provided by the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) last Friday, FIFA and UEFA responded on Feb. 8 to the FFU, mentioning that the latest developments are seen positively and that this is an important step forward to unifying and strengthening football in Ukraine," read the statements.

Under these circumstances, FIFA and UEFA are convinced that there will be no need to suspend the FFU, but they will continue to monitor the situation over the next few weeks to gain confirmation that the situation in Ukrainian football has definitely stabilized.

FIFA and UEFA had given the FFU until 4 February to provide assurances that external interference in the running of the federation has ceased and that the current leadership of the FFU will be able to see out its current term until the autumn of 2012.
