Dnipropetrovsk - Fifteen Ukrainian soldiers, two of them wounded, returned on Sept. 7 evening to Dnipropetrovsk from Donetsk where they had been held prisoner, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reports.

The group of released POWs included seven servicemen of the 51st brigade, one of the 93rd brigade, six of the 40th territorial defense battalion and one of the Svitiaz battalion. Families, friends and journalists welcomed the soldiers back.

“We lost contact with my husband several weeks ago and had no information about him until today, he was missing but we did not lose hope (…). He is back now, and we are very grateful to everyone who has helped his release,” a soldier’s wife told reporters.

Two injured servicemen were rushed to a hospital, and the others would be given medical and psychological assistance shortly. The soldiers said they “were treated normally but the captivity was morally hard.”

Ukrainian people’s artist Ruslana Lyzhychko and negotiator Volodymyr Ruban achieved the release of the soldiers and brought them to Dnipropetrovsk.
