You're reading: Fighting continues overnight in Donetsk, power, water supply erratic

Residents of the Kyivsky, Kirovsky, Leninsky and Petrivsky districts in Donetsk woke up to the sound of heavy artillery overnight, says a report posted on the City Hall Web site.

“Tensions persisted in the city as of 9 a.m. The overnight fighting
disabled 44 transformer substations in the Petrivsky district and cut
power supply to residential buildings in the Petrivsky district and the
suburbs of Biriuzova and Hrabari,” the report said.

Only two out of 28 disabled transformer stations have resumed
operation in the Kuibyshevskyi district as the hostilities are slowing
down the repair teams’ work.

Water supply is erratic in the Kirovsky, Kuibyshevsky, Leninsky and
Petrivsky districts. The Donetskmiskvodokanal administration is working
on its stabilization.

Public transport is operating under the weekend schedule.

The online edition Novosti Donbassa said that militants opened fire
at the Donetsk Petrivsky district at 5 a.m. Eyewitnesses said it was
impossible to bring the Trudivska mine workers to the surface because of
the shooting.
