You're reading: Fire in office building in Kyiv extinguished, does not house Yemeni embassy or consulate

A fire on the roof of an office building at 12 Stetsenko Street in Kyiv was put out at 8.10 p.m. Kyiv on July 7, the Ukrainian State Emergency Situations Service reported, without saying whether the incident involved any casualties.

The service also denied its earlier report indicating that the building housed the Yemeni embassy to Ukraine.

“It turned out that the office building is not the Republic of Yemen’s embassy or consulate, contrary to what was stated earlier,” it said.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said Yemen does not have an embassy in Ukraine, and the Yemeni ambassador to Russia combines his duties with those as ambassador to Ukraine. The Yemeni embassy to Russia is located at 6 Vtoroi Neopalimovsky Pereulok in Moscow.

It was reported earlier that rescue services had received information on a fire covering about 300 square meters of an office building’s roof at 4 p.m. on July 7. Six pieces of machinery and over 30 firefighters were engaged in fighting the fire.
