Five civilians have been killed in Donetsk as a result of ongoing shelling, the city council said on its Web site.

Besides, a residential building in Zoolohichna Street was fully destroyed after being hit by shells. Damage also has been caused to the roof and adjacent structures of a nearby house in the same street. Furthermore, private residential buildings in Chervonopartyzanska Street and the house No. 16 in Piatnytskoho Street have been ruined, as have the tower blocks in Kuibysheva Street. Shells also hit the building of a utilities firm’s office number four at: 211a in Kuibysheva Street, as well as two shopping centers – Amstor (38 Sokolyna Street) and Volna (217b Kuibysheva Street).

After the artillery shelling an emergency team from Donetskmiskgaz (a local natural-gas supplier) registered damage caused to gas pipelines in the city’s Kyivsky and Kuibyshevsky districts.

On Thursday morning residents reported hearing occasional volleys of gunfire in the Kuibyshevksy and Kirovsky districts.

At the same time, utilities firms and emergency teams are working, the city council said. Public road transport services (busses, trolleybuses and trams) run according to schedules, without disruptions.
