Five foreign footballers are leaving FC Chornomorets because of the complicated socio-political situation in Ukraine and Odesa, and because of the absence of specific answers from the Football Federation of Ukraine and Premier League regarding the beginning of the spring part of the country's championship.

“FC Chornomorets has been forced to meet the persistent requirements of the foreign football players of the team and members of their families, who are extremely worried for their safety as well as the prospects for full-scale game practice in the nearest future. Thus, our club has come to the decision to cancel the agreements with the following players Pablo Fontanello, Markus Berger, Anderson Santana, Franck Dja Djedje and Llorenc Riera,” reported the official Web site of the club on Monday.

The personnel of the FC Chornomorets thanked these footballers for their colossal contribution to the team’s successful performance in recent years.

“Their high-profile, dedicated and colorful football allowed Chornomorets to join the ranks of the leading clubs of the country and make a loud name for ourselves in Europe,” reads the statement.

Chornomorets is at the fifth place of the Ukrainian championship after its autumn part. This season the club from Odesa also played in the UEFA Europa League, dropping out at the last-32 stage.
