An adviser of to Ukraine's Interior Minister, Anton Heraschenko, has said that five police officers who used excessive force during an incident at a concert of Ukrainian singer Ani Lorak in Odesa on Monday, Aug. 4 were dismissed by the regional police chief.

“Today, the chief of Odesa regional police, Ivan Katerynchuk, has
sacked five police officers who, according to a video (from the scene),
were seen as beating people with rubber batons on the head or beating
lying people,” Heraschenko said on the Svoboda Slova (Freedom of Speech)
political talk show on the ICTV channel on Monday evening, Aug. 4.

In addition, he noted: “If we establish that more police officers exceeded their powers, we will fire more.”

As reported, a scuffle between pro-Ukrainian activists and law
enforcement officials, some of whom used excessive force, arose during a
concert of singer Ani Lorak at the Ibiza club in Odesa on Sunday, Aug. 3.

At the same time, at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday Heraschenko said
that four policemen who abused power will be will be brought to justice,
as will be four of the protesters.
