Many Ukrainian troops were hurt in the collapse of the floors in the new terminal of Donetsk airport.

“Some floor structures of the second floor of the new terminal have collapsed. They were blown up by the separatists. The debris fell, including on the troops. Many people were wounded,” Ukrainian presidential adviser Yuriy Biriukov said on Facebook.

The official told Channel Five that “one Ukrainian military man was killed in the collapse.”

Biriukov said the floor structures were blown up under the cover of smoke pellets.

Valeriy Lohinov, a serviceman from the 95th air mission brigade, told Channel Five the militants tried to attack the building of the airport after the explosion, but the attack was repelled.

“There is also information that support is coming to the defenders,” Channel Five reported on its website, citing Lohinov.

Biriukov has confirmed this information. “Considerable support is on its way. There is hope now,” he said on Facebook.
