The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has said that relations between NATO and Ukraine have stabilized over the past 15 years.

"I'm extremely pleased to note that for 15 years, [our] cooperation with NATO have been stable," said Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Olefirov said at a conference dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Charter on a Distinctive Partnership between Ukraine and NATO.

He said that the issue concerned not only the ongoing political dialog, but also active practical cooperation. In particular, the diplomat pointed to Ukraine's participation in various missions in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Operation Active Endeavour in the Mediterranean. Olefirov said that Ukraine had demonstrated its reliability during the evacuation of citizens from Libya, including representatives of foreign countries.

Director of the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine Natalia Nemylivska, in turn, said that that the current relations between Ukraine and NATO "are strong and are based on a strong foundation."

She said that the alliance intended to continue to cooperate with Ukraine, respecting the country's choice to assume a non-aligned status.
