The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has advised citizens of Ukraine not to travel to the Republic of Mali due to the unsafe situation in the country.
“The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine recommends that citizens of Ukraine refrain from traveling to the Republic of Mali due to the worsening of the situation with security in the country, so as to avoid danger to life and health,” reads the ministry’s statement.

As reported, last week at the request of the Malian authorities France sent troops to the country to help Mali’s government against Islamists linked to al-Qaeda that were advancing on the country’s capital. This decision fully complies with the United Nations Security Council resolution unanimously passed in December 2012.
At the same time, the French air force bombed rebel bases in northern Mali.
The situation in Mali has worsened in recent weeks after Islamists linked to al-Qaeda from northern Mali attacked the country’s southern regions in order to take over the control of more territory.
