The Ukraine-EU summit will take place after a new Ukrainian parliament is formed, the Foreign Ministry has reported.

“We want to hold the summit after Ukraine completes the formation of a new composition of the Verkhovna Rada, including committees,” the director of the ministry’s information policy department, Oleh Voloshyn, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He said this was the position of the European side, which foresees that “they want to hold the summit when they know who they are dealing with and who is the second side of the conversation.”

“For us the content of the summit is more important than its date,” Voloshyn said.

As reported, the Ukraine-EU summit is to be held in early 2013.
