Moscow - As Russia worked with an Australian-proposed draft resolution concerning the July 17 crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine, it reiterated the unacceptability of any biased approaches toward determining the possible culprits responsible for this tragedy, as well as the unacceptability of pre-empting the results of such an investigation, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.

“As a result of intense consultations, the sides managed to secure a
draft that reaffirms the need for a truly independent and impartial
international investigation on the basis of international aviation
principles, in which ICAO [International Civil Aviation Organization] should play a crucial role. The Russian side is prepared to extend
comprehensive assistance to such an investigation, including by
providing appropriate specialists,” the Russian ministry said in a
commentary in response to the adoption of the aforementioned resolution
by the UN Security Council.

On July 21, the UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution
that calls for an international inquiry into the Boeing-777 crash in
Ukraine.
