Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has reported that about 20 heads of state and government have confirmed their participation in the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, scheduled for June 7.

“As of today we have the confirmation of the participation of some 20 foreign heads of states and governments,” the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, Yevhen Perebyinis, said at a press briefing on June 3.

This information is not final because the ministry continues to receive more confirmations from foreign states, he said.

So far, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier have confirmed their participation.

Prebyinis added that invitations were sent to heads of EU member states, a number of other European countries, the United States, Canada, the countries of the Caucasus, and the leadership of international organizations.
