There is no open flame between the former villages of Buda Varovychy and Kovshylivka in the exclusion and mandatory resettlement zone in the Chornobyl Puscha forestry area, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has reported.

“No open flame was observed as of 7 a.m. on August 19; the watering and monitoring of smoldering forest floor spots went on,” the report said.

The fire broke out on Aug. 9 and was confined on Aug. 14.
