The format of the judicial investigation into the MH17 Malaysian Airlines crash in Donbas will be determined in the next few weeks, Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders said.

At a joint press conference given by the foreign ministers of the Netherlands, Belgium and Ukraine in Kyiv on Nov. 23, Koenders expressed hopes that the format of the trial will be determined in the next few weeks.

According to Koenders, the investigation has proved that the Malaysian Boeing was shot down with a Buk missile. The team of investigators now comprises Ukrainian, Belgian and Australian officials, he said. The issue of what justice instruments should be used, national justice or an international tribunal, is now being discussed, Koenders said.

The Boeing-777 plane of Malaysia Airlines en route from Amsterdam to Kuala-Lumpur crashed on July 17, 2014 in the eastern part of the Donetsk region near the village of Hrabove, not far from the city of Torez at the border with the Luhansk region where the armed conflict in Ukraine took place. The jet had 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board, all of whom died.
