Former Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine Valentyna Semeniuk-Samsonenko was found dead in her home in the village of Chaiky (Kyevo-Sviatoshynsky district) on Aug. 27, spokesman for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main office in Kyiv region Mykola Zhukovych has said.

“I confirm that she was found dead. An investigative team is working at the scene,” he told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

He declined to give any details of the incident.

When asked who else was in the house, Zhukovych said: “She was alone.”

The agency learned from sources that Semeniuk-Samsonenko had shot herself in the chin with a hunting rifle.

Semeniuk-Samsonenko was born on June 4, 1957. She was a Ukrainian politician, former head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (2005-2008), an MP of the second, third, fourth and fifth convocations, and a member of the Socialist Party of Ukraine.
