Four civilians were killed and nine wounded in the Saturday shelling in Donetsk, the city council reported.

“The hostilities on Oct. 18 resulted in the death of four civilians in Donetsk. Nine more people received fragment wounds of varying gravity,” a Oct. 19 morning report of its press service says.

Last night was very tense in Donetsk. “There was shelling starting with 1:40 p.m. on Oct. 18 and ending at 3:00 a.m. on Oct. 19 in the city with epicenters in four districts – Petrovsky, Kirovsky, Kuibyshevsky and Kyivsky. Shells caused massive destruction to residential buildings,” the report says.

Besides, one of the workshops of the Donetsk chemical product plant was fully destroyed. The building of school №61 was damaged.

“As a result of the shelling numerous damage to gas pipelines was recorded in Petrovsky and Kyivsky districts. For safety reasons gas supplies to six houses were suspended,” the report says.

As at 10:00 a.m. on Oct. 19 the situation remained tense. Residents reported sounds of remote gunfire in Petrovsky, Kirovsky, Kuibyshevsky and Kyivsky districts.
