 The countries of the so-called Weimar Triangle support the territorial integrity and EU integration process of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service has reported. Ukraine's Acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia on April 11 met with a delegation of the heads of the foreign affairs committees of the French National Assembly, the German Bundestag and the Polish Sejm, Elisabeth Guigou, Norbert Roettgen and Grzegorz Schetyna, and discussed the events in Ukraine, especially in the context of the situation around Crimea and in the eastern regions of the country.

 “Deschytsia expressed gratitude for strong support from France, Germany and Poland for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, both bilaterally and within international organizations,” reads the statement.

The heads of the foreign affairs committee noted the important role of the Weimar Triangle countries in promoting cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. In this context, they noted their readiness to help Ukraine implement internal reforms to improve the economic situation in the country. They also stressed the importance of measures being taken by the Ukrainian government to prepare for and hold presidential elections on May 25 in line with democratic standards.

Special attention was paid to the issues of European integration and energy security of the state.
