Fule: Deepening of relations between Russia and Ukraine - no threat to EU integration

Brussels, May 12 – The thaw in relations between Kyiv and Moscow poses no threat to Ukraine's integration into Europe, the European Union's Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule said at a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday. Fule also stressed the need to conduct reforms in the country that are compatible with "the agenda of association with the European Union."

The commissioner noted that it was the European Union that had "urged the Ukrainian authorities to have good relations with their neighbors."

"I think that the answer is how the Ukrainian leadership is faithful to reform, to a package of reforms that is compatible with [Ukraine's] European agenda," he said.

Does that mean they don't care about this relationship?

Or...are they only concerned with receiving their energy without any concerns for the type of govt that rules Ukraine?

A Ukraine integrated with Russia will never qualify for the EU as it will continue to be corrupt and inefficient.

Gene the main setback to Ukraine EU integration was Yushchenko and his divisive undemocratic policies. Yushchenko had set back Ukraine's EU integration 15 to 20 year or more. Ukraine hopefully will now embrace democratic reform now that Yushchenko is no longer in office and the US government is no longer seeking to destabilize the region.

I think the EU has a &quot;wait and see&quot; attitude. Wonder what the EU position will be if Ukrainian journalist don't stop complaining of limiting there press freedom and if Tymoshenko's trail will go ahead. If they will have the same statements about that as this one then if you are depending on the EU to save your democracy it is dead today.

Fule, there is difference between &quot;good relations with their neighbors&quot; and complete take over of one country by another by means of putting puppet government in that country by rigged elections - don't you know it, Fule? Stop pretending it's not there, when it's all over your goofy face.
