You're reading: Gaz Ukrainy orders pre-design work for construction of three coal gasification plants

Gaz Ukrainy, a subsidiary of Naftogaz Ukrainy, has chosen PJSC Severodonetsk NIIKHIMMASH (Luhansk region) to develop a project for the construction of coal gasification plants in Severodonetsk, Horlivka, and Odesa.

According to a posting on the Public Procurement portal, the sides signed a contract worth UAH 8.964 million (including VAT) on January 21, 2013.

The work must be completed before June 2013.

Rubizhproektbud LLC (Luhansk region) also participated in the tender, with a proposal of UAH 12.18 million (including VAT).”

Severodonetsk NIIKHIMMASH should perform engineering work in accordance with the task of drawing up “pre-design work on the development of a feasibility study for the construction of plants producing synthesis gas and synthetic natural gas through coal gasification” approved by the scientific and technical council of Naftogaz Ukrainy on October 16, 2012.

The company, in particular, has to study the optimization of gasification of various grades of coal, compare their physical and chemical characteristics, including the caloric content (calorific value) of the gas and gas fuel that will be produced through coal gasification. In addition, the institute will examine the sources and volumes of coal supplies, their delivery, the transportation of finished goods to consumers, and the length of pipelines.
