Georgia is ready to help Ukraine treat those wounded as a result of the actions of militants in the east of the state, Georgian Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs David Sergeenko has said, reads a statement posted on the Ukrainian government portal. 

He said this at a meeting with Ukrainian Deputy Health Minister Vasyl Lazoryshynets in Kyiv on Aug. 27.

“The Ukrainian Health Ministry set up a working group to determine the areas and amount of aid. The Georgian side expressed its readiness to send the necessary medicines to Ukraine, as well as send its doctors, both for work in hospitals, where those wounded are treated, and for the medical examination of displaced persons in the places of their stay,” reads the statement.

In addition, agreement was reached on the sending of the victims for treatment and rehabilitation in Georgia.

Lazoryshynets said at the meeting that 15 of 335 medical institutions had been completely destroyed in the liberated areas in Donetsk region and seven of 266 in Luhansk region. He said it was impossible to calculate how many hospitals had been destroyed in Donetsk and Luhansk – the territories controlled by Russian-backed separatist fighters.
