You're reading: Georgian government not going to make ‘radical’ statements on Ukraine events

Georgian Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili has said he does not plan to make any strongly worded statements concerning the situation in Ukraine.

“The members of my government and I have no intention of making any
sharp and radical statements in relation to Ukraine because our
government pursues a pragmatic policy,” Garibashvili said at a meeting
with Tbilisi State University students on Thursday.

“At the same time, Georgia condemns any attempt to encroach upon the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” he said.

Ukraine has always been a strategic partner for Georgia, Garibashvili said.

“We support the Ukrainian people’s decision to build a democratic and
civilized country. And we are categorically opposed to any attempts to
cause Ukraine to break apart,” he said.
