German journalists who visited Lviv before the Euro 2012 European Football Championship were very impressed by the Ukrainian city, according to the Ukraine 2012 information center.

An article in the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reads, "Lviv, where the German team will play its first match, is a Central European Renaissance and Modernism treasure box, with its paved roads, coffee aroma, and church bells."

Local residents told the journalists that today the city "has the best roads in its whole history."

An article in German publication Spiegel reads, "While walking to the top of the Castle Mountain, you will hear echoes of numerous declarations of love from the forest surrounding you. They say if you reach the peak without a beloved person, you will find your love there, on the top, you will fall in love with the city."

An article by Spiegel journalist Helge Bendl reads, "The sleeping beauty of the East that is finally waking up from its dreams and is thought of as a magic city all over the country."

The journalists also praised the city’s modernity.

"While walking across the city you can feel its modernity. At night, after a visit to the Les Kurbas Theater, you will hear not only the sounds of a tram running along narrow streets, but also an improvised saxophone musician playing at a jazz club."
