The German government will provide 1 million to support the "Comprehensive Stabilization Support to IDPs (internally displaced persons) and the Affected Population in Ukraine" project.

The media and public relations department of the German Embassy to Ukraine reported on Wednesday that the goal of the project is to provide cash transfers via state-run Ukreximbank to IDPs from eastern Ukraine to support comfortable living conditions for them. A total of 6,500 persons in nine regions of Ukraine will receive this aid by the end of this year – Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson Oblasts.

As reported, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the support of donors is expanding its financial assistance program for the most vulnerable IDPs in Ukraine.

“In July, IOM launched the second round of multipurpose cash transfer support to IDPs in the Kharkiv Region thanks to an additional 1 million provided by the European Union through its Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) and 400,000 euro in co-funding from the Government of Norway,” the organization’s office in Ukraine reported.

The EU, Norway and IOM aim to support a total of 9,500 people with this assistance.

With an additional 1 million provided by Germany, IOM will be able to support another 6,500 vulnerable IDPs currently residing in nine regions of Ukraine: Vinnytsia, Poltava, Sumy, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, Chernihiv and Zhytomyr Oblasts.
