The Cabinet of Ministers has granted a request of the Infrastructure Ministry to permit foreigners to occupy leading posts at Boryspil airport, minister of the Cabinet of Minister Ostap Semerak said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

“Infrastructure Ministry made a proposal for vacancies to be filled through competitive selection at Boryspil airport both by Ukrainian citizens, as well as by non-residents. The government backed such proposal and ordered within a week to elaborate all of the qualification requirements,” he said.

As reported, on Sept. 19, Yevhen Dykhne was appointed acting director general of the main airport of the country – Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv). Earlier Dykhne was director for the organization of passenger transportation at the State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia).

The previous director general of the airport Serhiy Hombolevsky was dismissed from the post in connection with the cancellation of the contract signed with him by mutual consent of the parties after he decided to terminate his labor contract early.

Boryspil International Airport is the main airport of the country and accounts for 50 percent of the passenger air transportation in Ukraine. More than 50 airlines fly from Boryspil to more than 100 destinations.

Boryspil International Airport is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe).
