Ukraine's government is ready to allocate Hr 30 million to set up the domestic production of highly purified coagulation proteins for the treatment of hemophilia, Premier Mykola Azarov has said.

"I’ll give you money for this, if it’s about Hr 30 million, and we’ll stop imports [of this medicine] forever," the premier said during his visit to a scientific exhibition in Kyiv on Thursday. Azarov was talking to Serhiy Komisarenko, one of the developers of the technology which produces highly purified coagulation proteins for sufferers of hemophilia A and B.

Komisarenko told journalists that the technology for producing the proteins has been developed, and the funds are needed only to buy equipment to start production. He said a similar medicine is made in Ukraine, but it is not very highly purified. High-quality medicine for treating hemophilia has to be imported to Ukraine.
