Government to reduce number of its secretariat employees by 50%

The Cabinet of Ministers will reduce the number of the employees of its secretariat by 50%. This is stipulated in government resolution No. 1124 of December 10, 2010.

As reported, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on December 9, 2010 issued a decree on the optimization of the system of executive government agencies, which foresees the reorganization of most ministries and agencies. According to the decree, the number of ministries was reduced from 20 to 16. The number of cabinet employees (1,174 people at present) is to be more than halved.
