You're reading: Governor says Arena Lviv stadium will not be dismantled

The Arena Lviv Stadium will remain open, and no one is going to dismantle it, Head of Lviv Regional State Administration Viktor Shemchuk has said.

“Arena Lviv exists and we must accept this. No one is going to dismantle it,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The governor said that the authorities of Lviv and Kyiv were supervising the issue of using the stadium to its full capacity.

Shemchuk said that taking a decision that FC Karpaty Lviv should hold its home games at Arena Lviv would help solve this problem.

Shemchuk also refuted media reports that FC Karpaty may be disbanded.

“I want to reassure everybody. Karpaty has been and will remain under one or another owner. And I’m sure that they will be playing at Arena Lviv,” he said.

At the same time, the governor didn’t say whether the owners of the Lviv football club would change. He said only that the problem of the club and the stadium would be settled soon.
