You're reading: Groysman calling on PGO, Anti-Corruption Bureau to investigate attempts of bribing lawmakers

Parliamentary Speaker Volodymyr Groysman has asked Public Prosecutor's Office (PGO) of Ukraine to investigate into a statement of Samopomich party leader and Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy that there was an alleged attempt to bribe lawmakers the day before the parliament is to discuss at first reading the draft law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding decentralization of power.

“Taking into account the seriousness of these words, I call on Public Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine in the shortest terms to conduct investigation and assess the facts if they are confirmed, and inform the Verkhovna Rada on the results of the investigation,” the speaker said in a statement posted on the parliament’s website on Aug. 29.

He called on Sadovy to quickly present all the required information to conduct the proper and unbiased investigation.

Earlier Sadovy said that some persons were trying to bribe lawmakers from the Samopomich faction in the parliament before the constitutional amendments voting.
