New Delhi, India - Ukraine has decided on its priorities during its OSCE chairmanship, and this will be ordinary work, rather than a PR campaign, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Gryshchenko has said.

“It will be a huge amount of work, and we’re not planning to turn it into a certain PR campaign. This work requires a lot of effort,” he told reporters in New Delhi on Monday as part of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych’s state visit to India.

Gryshchenko also said the priorities had been outlined earlier by Ukraine, and they included the settlement of frozen or long-term conflicts. In addition, he said, Ukraine was worried about increased risks in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The minister noted that while communicating with his foreign counterparts, “there was a huge interest in Ukraine’s OSCE chairmanship.”

Among other priorities, Hryschenko named the resumption of the process of conventional arms control and the establishment of non-aligned rules in this area.

He said it was necessary to preserve the OSCE’s role in the humanitarian field, in particular, in the area of ensuring human rights.

Ukraine will assume the OSCE presidency on Jan. 1, 2013.
