You're reading: Gunfire, explosions continue in Donetsk – city council

As of 6 p.m. local time on Oct. 20 the cannonade in Donetsk has shown no signs of dying out, with gunfire and explosions still audible virtually in every district of the city.

At around 2 p.m. Donetsk’s Kuibyshevsky district came under fire once again, resulting in damage to residential buildings No. 54 in Luhova Street and No. 20 in Khrustalny Prospekt, Donetsk City Council said in a statement.

“Despite the uneasy situation, the emergency and repair efforts continued in the city today. Specialists from DonetskMiskGaz renewed gas supplies for 1,338 households. These are mainly consumers in Hladkivka micro-district and private houses in Kirovsky district, in Lazurna and Lomonosov Streets,” the statement said.

Public transport services are running as scheduled, without changes to the routes.
