You're reading: Hard wheat, oats, millets, peas no longer subject to government’s price regulations

The Ukrainian government has shortened the list of foods subject to price regulations by the state in 2014 and 2015, having excluded hard wheat, meslin (a mixture of wheat and rye), oats, millet, and peas from it.

An updated list was introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers in its resolution No. 361 dated Aug. 20 and released on August 21.

The period of price regulations on soft wheat, rye, barley, wheat and rye flour, and buckwheat was shifted forward by two months: from September 2014 until the end of August 2015.

Price regulations on powdered milk and creamery butter will be in effect from September 1 to December 31, 2014, whereas last year prices of these products were controlled by the government from March 11 to December 31.

There were no changes in the regime of price controls for corn and sugar made of sugar beets.

As reported, every year the government determines the list of foods that are subject to price regulations, and bought or sold by the Agrarian Fund, depending on the situation on the market. The government fixes the ceiling and floor prices for such products to be used by the Agrarian Fund for its financial and commodity interventions.
