The head of Petro Poroshenko's election headquarters in one of the districts of Vinnytsia region was found dead in the town of Nemyriv (Vinnytsia region), with the cause of death being a gunshot wound.

“At about 12: 30 pm on June 5, a male with a gunshot wound to the head was found in his own car on one of Nemyriv’s streets. In response to this fact, employees of the investigative directorate of Vinnytsia Interior Ministry Department opened a criminal proceeding due to elements of crime under Part 1, Article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” reads the statement on the ministry’s website.

Currently, the crime scene is being examined and primary investigative and search actions are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov sent forensics investigators, agents of Interior Ministry’s central office and experts from the State Scientific Research Forensic Center of the ministry to provide both hands-on and methodological assistance to the investigation.

The victim’s name isn’t specified in the Interior Ministry’s statement.
