You're reading: Head of US Senate armed services’ committee arrives in Ukraine

The chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services, Carl Milton Levin, arrived in Kyiv on Sept. 2.

The U.S. senator’s arrival in Ukraine was announced on Twitter by U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has not made any formal statement about the visit by the influential senator to Ukraine.

According to open sources, in his letter to U.S. President Barack
Obama on July 22, the Democratic senator suggested recognizing the
self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics as terrorist
organizations and imposing broad sanctions against Russia.
