The implementation of a pilot project to introduce state regulation of prices of insulin medicines will help reduce the price of medicines for diabetics by 15-20%, Ukrainian Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova has said.

“The Health Ministry has drawn up a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the implementation of a pilot project to introduce the state regulation of prices of insulin medicines, which proposes setting maximum levels of wholesale prices of insulin medicines using comparative (or reference) prices for them in foreign countries. According to estimates by experts, this step will lead to a reduction in prices for medicines for diabetics by 15-20%,” she said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

She said that this would help raise the level of providing diabetics with insulin analogues within existing budget allocations.
