Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei has said he is not concerned about a criminal case opened against him by the Russian Investigative Committee.

“Not only Ukraine, but the whole world sees what Russia did in Donbas. Then we will ask questions on those trumped-up criminal cases in a foreign country. It’s not we who came to them, it’s they who came to us, and they took over our territory,” he told journalists in Kyiv on Thursday, Oct. 2.

“We do not want someone else’s things, but won’t give our own. If they hear me, let them leave these criminal cases in their archives, but let them leave our land,” he said.

While commenting on a criminal case opened against him by the Russian Investigative Committee, Heletei said: “I have been hearing threats from the Russian Federation – both official and unofficial.”

He said that he and his family members were receiving threatening messages via cell phones.
