Despite sub-freezing temperatures and snow, two-thirds of Ukraine's eligible voters turned out for the first round of the nation's presidential election.

 

Activists from the Ukrainian feminist organization “Femen” portrayed prostitutes at a polling station. The posters read: “Don’t sell your vote” and Don’t be a slut.”

 

Officials of a local election commission emptied a ballot box at a polling station in Dnipropetrovsk.

 

President Victor Yushchenko voted with wife Kateryna.

 

Candidates Arseniy Yatseniuk,

 

Sergiy Tigipko

 

and Volodymyr Lytvyn remained optimistic as they cast their ballots.
