You're reading: Holodomor remembrance events to be held in Kyiv on Nov. 22

The mourning events marking the 81st anniversary of the 1932-1933 Holodomor will be conducted in Kyiv on Nov. 22, Volodymyr Viatrovych, director of the Ukrainian National Memory Institute, said.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will participate in the events, he said.

The events honoring the victims of Holodomor will begin in Ukraine on Nov. 18.

Ukrainian Culture Minister Yevhen Nyschuk, for his part, said the official events will be conducted in the Glory Park in Kyiv on the territory of the national Holomodor Memorial Museum.

Nyschuk said events devoted to Freedom Day will be held on the Maidan and in the Ukrainian House on Nov. 21.
