Foreign Affairs Minister of Czech Republic Lubomir Zaoralek has opened the honorary Czech consulate in Dnipropetrovsk.

The main tasks of the honorary consulate were announced during the
opening ceremony. These tasks include protecting the interests of the
Czech Republic and its citizens in Ukraine and development of
commercial, economic, culture and scientific connections between Czech
Republic and Ukraine.

However, the honorary consulate in Dnipropetrovsk isn’t authorized to open visas and legalize documents.

According to Zaoralek, opening of the honorary consulate will
facilitate the restoration and creation of close connections between the
two countries.

The Czech foreign minister expressed hope that the consulate would
facilitate not only economic but other types of connections between
Ukraine and the Czech Republic. He noted that some Czech regions had
signed cooperation agreements with Ukrainian regions and said that he
was ready to help Dnipropetrovsk region find such partners.

Zaoralek said that signing economic part of Association Agreement
with the EU would mean the beginning of serious changes and intensive
work. The Czech foreign minister said he understood the difficulty of
the implementation of the Association Agreement during the events in
Donbas. However, he said he was sure that reforms must continue
regardless of these events. According to him, Dnipropetrovsk can play a
vital role in them. According to Zaoralek, people in the Czech Republic
want peace to come back to Ukraine so that the country can benefit from
European integration.
