The coordination council of the Ukrainian network Information Center (UANIC) has selected Technical Center Internet LLC as the operator of the new Cyrillic '.укр' domain, which competed for the status with Hostmaster LLC, which administrated the '.ua' domain, reads a report of the press service of the state agency for science, innovations and informatization, referring to its head Volodymyr Semynozhenko.

The report says that the decision was made on Thursday, October 17.

“Technical Center Internet has been actively cooperating with the administrator of the ‘.укр’ domain for over two years, and as a part of the technical group of the UANIC the company ensured the process of delegating the ‘.укр’ domain,” Semynozhenko said.

He said that the coordination council agreed with the grounds and arguments of the domain administrator. The next step will be the signing of the agreement between the administrator and the operator.

Semynozhenko reminded that applications to the tender UANIC accepted from September 13 to October 12. Companies that have been registered in Ukraine for at least two years with the share of foreign capital up to 10 percent and the state share of up to 50 percent can submit documents for the tender.

The operator of the ‘.укр’ domain is to ensure the designing, introduction and stable servicing of the domain name registration system.

The coordination council also approved an agreement on accreditation of registrars and an agreement to be signed between the administration and the operator of the ‘.укр’ domain’s register, as well as issues on the creation of the commission for pretrial settling of domain disputes and putting certain documents up for public discussion.
