A hotel complex will not be built near the Baby Yar State historical memorial complex, as Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy has vetoed plans for hotel placement in Kyiv until 2020 that foresaw the building of a hotel near the site, secretary of Kyiv City Administration Oles Dovhiy said at a session of the Kyiv city council on Thursday.

BYT MPs had urged Kyiv’s mayor to veto the entire
scheme, as most of the hotels foreseen in the project would have been
located in green zones.

As reported, on September 17, Kyiv City Council
approved a plan for the location of hotels for Euro 2012 in Kyiv.
According to the plan, one of the possible locations is Melnykova
Street, which is located near the territory of the Baby Yar memorial
park.
