You're reading: Hryschenko: Kyiv can simultaneously cooperate with EU and Russia

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko has said he is confident that Kyiv has every chance of simultaneously developing relations with the European Union and Russia.

"I think that Ukraine can build its strategic policy on promoting integration into the EU and simultaneously building the most extensive and closest economic, political and cultural relations with Russia and other post-Soviet countries," he said on the Freedom of Speech program shown on the ICTV television channel late on Monday.

Hryschenko noted that there were no contradictions in this area, because the economies of Ukraine, Russia and the EU were completely tied to global processes and that Kyiv could not develop its economy in isolation from these processes.
